Google just announced Google Chrome. Google has posted on its official blog saying they screwed up by mailing this cartoon out early. A beta version of Chrome will be made available tomorrow in over 100 countries - but, alas, for Windows only to start, with Mac and Linux on the way.
Current Firefox version (2.0.x) consumes too much memory (even when it’s being idle). Several improvements have been designed to reduce this memory usage and it will be available when Firefox 3.0 shipped. Still Firefox 3.0 RC2 eats-up lot of memory.
Meanwhile, for you who wanted to optimize Firefox’s performance, you can try this tools : Firefox Ultimate Optimizer. It’s a tool which can work silently to reduce Firefox’s memory usage, thus frees your system with heavy memory loads. With this tool Firefox RC2 in my system is just using ~3-4MB and maxmimum ~10MB with lot of tabs open. This tool really healed my system, otherwise Firefox used to eat more than 30% of system memory. It is available for Windown only and requires .NET Framework 2.0 installed. It will run in your system tray and work in background. Pretty nice tool.
