Google Launches FriendConnect

image Google introduced FriendConnect yesterday in its CampFire One. FriendConnect is a new data portability initiative for spreading social connections around the web.

TC got a great post on FriendConnect yesterday… FriendConnect is a great way to socialize your website or webapp, In short it can be called as “Social Widgest for Site Owners”. Right now FriendConnect is in a very limited beta with a few “white listed” sites. Those include “registration, invitations, member galleries, message posting, reviews, as well as third-party applications built by the OpenSocial developer community.” Google said that they’re starting with a core group of social gadgets but developers are expected to build out a wide array of gadgets over time. And with a few tweaks, any application currently built on or compatible with the OpenSocial platform can be modified to work with FriendConnect.

FriendConnect lowers two barriers to the spread of social features across the web. First, many website owners want to add features that enable their visitors to do things with their friends, but the technology and resource hurdles have been too high. Second, people are tiring of needing to create new logins and profiles and recreate their friends lists wherever they go on the web. Google Friend Connect offers a solution to both of these issues.

Checkout the FriendConnect Intro video here… It is really a simplest way to connect your web site to more people & make it more social…

Well… I’m Hacked!!

image Someone hacked / hijacked my secondary Gmail ID which I used to use for Social-web… Hijacked my Orkut Profile and deleted all my photography, Testimonials I received or wrote for my close friends. And, left an intersting warning on my profile.

I have serious doubt on couple of people who used to be very close to me, and whoever hacked / hijacked me targetted my close friends and deleted things I like most, for example my photography… Apart from my Orkut / Gmail… few other sites like my Facebook, Viemo, Flickr are also hacked where I used same login & same password… either someone already hijacked my <sh3kh4r@gmail.com> and got information about sites where I was a registered or paid user and he/she tried to hack them also. Even, all photography I had on my Flickr account are also deleted… also, someone tried to make a payment at using Google CheckOut.

I’m keeping it cool… Well… the worst things happened I need to re-gain all my lost conatcts.  Luckily, I have a backup of all contacts… I might be re-inviting you all to following social-web sites I was using my hacked Gmail ID…

It is a serious waste of time & mind once your highly used account is hacked…

Anyways, the worst thing happen when you’re busy, I’m planning Sunday to sit on it and get back in touch with all my lost conatcts.

Update: I got in touch with Google, they provided me an online resource where I was able to fill out a form & provide information related to my hacked Gmail ID… Got a reply from Google after one day, and they deleted my hacked Orkut Profile, as well restored my account & password. Also, I have reported this issue to Cyber Crime Cell of Bangalore Police, Let’s see if they are able to trace the hacker. I lost a huge amount of data & connections to people since my ID got hacked.
